The project will take place between Sunday, August 16 and Sunday, August 30, with lines between Bidston and Wrexham General closed and some lines between Wrexham General and Shrewsbury also affected. Nick Millington, route director for Network Rail Wales and Borders, said: "This is a significant investment in the railway across North Wales and the Borders that will deliver long-term benefits for passengers and freight customers. Between Wrexham General and Shrewsbury, bus replacements will operate from Monday, August 17 to Sunday, August 30, with some services extended to Chester. Trains between Crewe and Wrexham General will run approximately hourly. Services between North Wales, Shrewsbury, Birmingham International and Cardiff Central will be diverted via Crewe, with revised timetables and longer journey times expected.
