English Lakes Hotels Ltd applied to the Lake District National Park Authority for a certificate of lawfulness to site the facility within the grounds of Low Wood Bay Resort & Spa on Ambleside Road, Windermere. The Lake District National Park Authority has since granted a certificate of lawfulness for the proposal. Despite this, planning officers considered the description of “mobile leisure facility” sufficiently clear within the context of the resort. They concluded that a mobile sauna would align with the hotel’s existing use, whereas a unit for accommodation would not. The Certificate of Lawfulness of Proposed Use or Development was issued on 5 August 2026.
