MGNSOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Local families are invited to attend the annual "Back 2 School Boogie Parade" at the Charles Black Community Center on Aug. 15, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.Organizers say this free community celebration is meant to help local students and families prepare for a successful school year. The event will include the following:Free school supplies (while supplies last)Free school uniforms for eligible studentsFree haircuts by local barbers and stylistsFood trucks and concessionsLive music and entertainmentFamily-friendly activitiesCommunity resource vendorsEducational resources and youth program informationPublic safety demonstrations and community engagement opportunitiesGiveaways, prizes, and promotional itemsOrganizers say the parade will kick off at 10 a.m. from Washington High School before traveling down Washington Street, ending at the Charles Black Center. Community members are encouraged to line up along the sidewalks of Washington Street to watch the parade. The Charles Black Community Center is located at 3419 W. Washington St. in South Bend.
