Fife Council started enforcing the ban on pavement parking on September 1 last year, with those who breach it risking a £100 fine. The area in question is the cul-de-sac off Cocklaw Street which is also, confusingly enough, called Cocklaw Street. Lead consultant for car parking strategy and operations at Fife Council, Robyn Steven said: "We can’t comment on the specific circumstances of individual cases. "We're working with all Fife councillors to examine streets that could be considered for an exemption from the pavement parking restrictions. "We've assessed Cocklaw Street in Kelty, and it doesn't meet the Scottish Government's criteria for a pavement parking exemption."
