Russia Denounces NATO Militarizing Arctic for Offensive Operations

teleSUR English
Russia’s Foreign Ministry denounced this Monday that NATO is militarizing the Arctic and preparing offensive operations against Russian territory through constant strategic military exercises.
These military exercises mobilized 25,000 soldiers from 14 nations, reinforced by the implementation of the new permanent mission Arctic Sentry.
In addition, a group of 12 NATO states projects new naval missions oriented toward nuclear deterrence and unmanned technology in the North Atlantic.
The Russian Foreign Ministry warned that the Atlantic alliance seeks to break the strategic balance established in the northern region.
The Russian position calls for returning to the cooperative framework that allowed the eight Arctic states to manage the region without military confrontation.
