Up to 94% of the Sun is expected to be obscured by the Moon on Wednesday, August 12, with west Pembrokeshire among the best places in Wales to witness the spectacle. Astronomers say the eclipse will reach its peak shortly after 7pm, when the Moon will cover around 94% of the Sun from parts of west Pembrokeshire. Experts have stressed that eclipse glasses or a certified solar viewer must be used to watch the event safely, as ordinary sunglasses offer no protection. Strumble Head has been ranked among the best places in the UK to watch the eclipse. Only Galloway Forest Park in Scotland ranked higher in the UK, while Exmoor National Park in Devon and Somerset came third.
