London's Metropolitan Police seized a Ferrari Monza SP2 worth an estimated £3.7 million ($5 million) during a weekend crackdown on uninsured and dangerous driving in central London, with an officer personally driving the rare supercar through Mayfair to a police impound lot rather than towing it away. The Monza SP2, one of only 499 examples Ferrari produced of the limited-edition model, had been registered in Dubai and had been in the UK for less than a day when officers stopped it, according to the Metropolitan Police. Central London's high concentration of exotic and imported vehicles, often driven by visitors unfamiliar with UK insurance requirements or, in some cases, by underage or unlicensed drivers, has made the area a recurring target for similar enforcement operations. Under UK law, vehicles seized for lacking insurance can be reclaimed by owners who provide valid insurance and a valid license within a set period, though unclaimed vehicles are typically sold at auction or scrapped afterward. Whether the vehicle's owner reclaims it before any deadline passes, or whether it instead proceeds toward auction alongside other unclaimed cars from the weekend's operation, remains unclear.
