Plans have now been submitted to create three floodlit padel courts at Stratford Leisure Centre by converting an unused five-a-side football pitch. The proposal, submitted on behalf of PadelStars Ltd, would see one of the centre’s four outdoor 4G pitches transformed into two doubles courts and one singles court. One of the football pitches would be sacrificed to make way for three padel courts. Photo: istockThe planning documents, submitted to Stratford District Council, state that the chosen football pitch has been out of use for around a year because of its poor condition. It adds that the remaining three five-a-side pitches have sufficient capacity to absorb demand, with average usage of around four hours per day per pitch.
