Archer Aviation and Boeing announced Monday that they have signed definitive agreements for Archer to acquire three Boeing subsidiaries — Wisk Aero, SkyGrid and Insitu — in an all-stock transaction that will make Boeing one of Archer's largest shareholders and combine autonomous flight, air-taxi and uncrewed defense technology under a single company. Boeing has also agreed to invest up to $55 million in an upcoming Archer funding round and will receive warrants to purchase up to $200 million of additional Archer stock in the future. Archer shares surged roughly 19% to 20% Monday on news of the deal. Combined, the three units bring roughly 2 million total flight hours to Archer's operations, along with entities including Insitu Pacific, Wisk Australia and Boeing Emirates. The transaction also continues a broader pattern of Boeing divesting businesses outside its core commercial aircraft, defense and services operations as the company narrows its strategic focus.
