A major incident declared by Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service following a sustained period of increased demand has been stood down. Additional support was provided by South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue, Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service, Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service. Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said the assistance allowed incidents to be brought under control more quickly. Despite the major incident being stood down, residents and visitors are being urged to continue taking precautions during the warm, dry weather. The service said: “Please continue to help us help you by taking your litter home with you, being careful when discarding cigarettes and packing a picnic, not a barbecue.”
