Ground stop issued for O'Hare Airport due to storms, FAA announces

A ground stop has been issued for flights heading to Chicago's O'Hare International Airport and Midway Airport Tuesday as a line of dangerous storms moves into the region.
The Federal Aviation Administration said the ground stop would be in place until 11:15 a.m. CT for departures aimed for Chicago from certain U.S. airports.

Midway Airport's stop was in place until at least 11:30 a.m.At the same time, a ground delay program is in place at the Chicago airport until 10 p.m. and flight at Chicago's Midway Airport were also experiencing delays due to the storms.
A severe thunderstorm watch was issued just before 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, continuing through the afternoon for many counties, including Cook.
