The Spanish Consulate General in Havana issued an essential update on Friday for those applying for Spanish nationality under the Law of Democratic Memory (LMD). This announcement comes amid confusion caused by different types of confirmation emails in the appointment request process. The diplomatic office clarified that the only valid proof to confirm an appointment request—necessary for submitting nationality documentation after October 22, 2025—is an email received from noreply@maec.es with the subject "CREDENTIAL REQUEST RECEIVED." Conversely, any automatic responses sent before August 2025 from cog.lahabana.lmdsol1@maec.es with the subject "Automatic Reply: LMD APPOINTMENTS" are not valid as official proof. Additionally, the Consulate reiterated that the deadline for submitting applications under the Law of Democratic Memory is approaching on October 22.
