In Spokane, containment on the three fires collectively known as the Spokane Area Fires held steady at its highest levels yet as of the most recent incident tracking data.
The Spokane fires have damaged or destroyed an estimated 921 structures combined since igniting Aug. 1, with roughly 2,000 fire personnel from more than 175 jurisdictions assigned to the response at its peak.
North of the border, the Bald Range wildfire near Summerland, British Columbia, has followed a starkly different arc.
Roughly 54 BC Wildfire Service personnel worked the fire lines overnight into Monday, supported by structural protection crews and night-vision helicopters.
Provincewide, more than 2.2 million hectares have burned in Canada so far this year, a figure that remains below the two-decade average despite the intensity of individual blazes like Bald Range.
