A study commissioned jointly by Isle of Wight firm Powered Now and Installer found that 93 per cent of UK tradespeople, including plumbers, heating engineers, electricians, and builders, experience stress or anxiety due to work, with nearly half reporting it as a regular issue. The research points to the heavy burden of business admin — quoting, invoicing, and chasing payments — which takes up an average of five hours and 20 minutes each week. Benjamin Dyer, chief executive and co-founder of Powered Now, said: "Nobody gets into this business because they love the paperwork. "But the craft comes packaged with quoting, invoicing, chasing payments, and a business to run — usually alone, usually after a full day on site. It has introduced an AI Receptionist service to answer calls when tradespeople are unavailable, aiming to reduce missed work opportunities and administrative pressure.
