COVENTRY City came from behind to beat La Liga side Espanyol 3-1 in the club’s first home friendly ahead of the 2026/27 season. Goals from Tatsuhiro Sakamoto, Josh Eccles and Ellis Simms earned the Sky Blues victory after Roberto Fernandez put the visitors ahead at the Coventry Building Society Arena. The Sky Blues play Monaco in the club’s final pre-season fixture later this week as Coventry edge closer to their first premier League game of the season. The home side sealed victory six minutes from time when Simms nodded in a scrappy goal from close range. Coventry conclude their pre-season campaign against Monaco on Friday, August 14 with kick-off at 7pm at the CBS Arena.
