COVENTRY United made a winning start to the 2026/27 season with a 3-1 victory against Sutton Coldfield Town in the FA Cup. Goals from Charlie Faulkner, Adam Barber and Kyle Carey sealed victory for the Red and Greens in the extra preliminary round tie at Coles Lane. United turned the game on its head moments before the break when Barber turned home Simeon Cobourne’s low ball across goal from the right at the back post from close range. And Coventry sealed their place in the FA Cup preliminary round deep into injury time as Carey coolly found the net after Cobourne beat three defenders in the corner. Coventry begin their league campaign against Grantham Town on Wednesday, August 12 with kick-off at 7.45pm at the Nick Newbold Stadium.
