The Lorain Historical Society hosted the Quesitos con Cafe event celebrating Lorain’s Lush Legacy of Latin Music Oct. 4 at Lorain Historical Society’s Carnegie Center, 329 W 10th St. The event is part of the Latino Lorain History Project, which is a public history partnership among El Centro, the Lorain Historical Society and Oberlin College aimed at gathering and preserving history of the Latino community in Lorain. Guests at the Quesitos con Cafe had the chance to learn about the history of notable local salsa bands popular in Lorain in the 1960s and 1970s from program presenter Eileen Torres. Torres said those who are not familiar with the history of salsa music in Lorain have taken an interest in the topic and provided valuable feedback. According to Torres, the Latino Lorain History Project is ongoing with events planned for the future.
