CAPE TOWN - The Cape Crime Crisis Coalition is calling time on endless discussions about crime and demanding a concrete, community-backed plan to tackle the crisis.
This follows a spate of gun violence in three Western Cape neighbourhoods -- Langa, Khayelitsha and Gugulethu -- in which 11 people were killed.
While the streets appear calm, residents -- including community leaders -- are refusing to visit the crime scene, citing safety concerns.
While police have not ruled out the possibility that the murders could be extortion-related, community leaders in Khayelitsha believe those killed in the TR Section were involved in criminal activity.
But community groups say the plan falls short.
