Go-ahead has been given for five touring caravans on land to the north and east of the Old School House at Makerstoun. The application was submitted by Duns-based The Fifth Lord Biddulph’s Trust, with the stated aim to “bring another source of diversified income into the estate”. But members of SBC’s Planning & Building Standards Committee approved a recommendation from council planners to agree the application at the meeting. Councillor Marshall Douglas, SNP for Tweeddale East, said: “I don’t think the level of traffic will be that significant. “Adequate access and egress can be provided, subject to the improvement of existing passing places.”
