JOHANNESBURG - City Power is responding to over 3,000 open calls as it tries to attend to multiple power outages across its network. Add to that, that is the current cold and wet weather conditions, which are placing significant pressure on the network. City Power spokesperson Isaac Mangena said the number of individual calls remains exceptionally high, with a significant portion logged in the past 24 hours. He said they are also dealing with new faults alongside ongoing restoration, which are already experiencing delays. “Higher demand from heaters and other appliances during the cold spell, combined with waterlogged ground that delays safe excavation and cable repairs, is delaying restoration times,” Mangena said.
