Islander Denise Shepherd strapped herself to the top wing of a vintage aircraft and took part in a thrilling wing walk at Sandown Airport on Saturday — all while raising money in aid of Sporting Opportunities Isle of Wight. Denise, who described herself as "70 years young," took on the high-flying challenge as a bucket-list ambition with hopes of raising £750 for the charity, which provides sporting opportunities for people with learning disabilities. The adventure attracted plenty of support, with fellow members of the Isle of Wight Caravan and Motorhome Club turning out to cheer her on. With the experienced team from Ethel Dares Wing Walking taking care of her challenge, Denise took to the skies under the expert guidance of a wing-walking specialist and pilot. After a smooth touchdown on her first wing walk, Denise is already planning an even more ambitious experience, featuring steeper turns, greater G-forces and faster manoeuvres.
