Police destroy seized narcotics worth Rs 82 crore

Mangaluru: Reinforcing its campaign against narcotics, Mangaluru City Police on Wednesday incinerated seized drugs worth approximately ₹82 crore, including large quantities of MDMA and ganja, in accordance with court orders.
Police said intensified enforcement this year has resulted in 87 NDPS cases and the arrest of 157 alleged peddlers.
Officers have seized narcotics worth ₹8.18 crore, including 148.615 kg of ganja, 7.165 kg of MDMA and 1.705 kg of hydro weed.
Authorities have also stepped up action against drug consumption, registering 356 cases against 463 individuals since January.
Among the major consignments destroyed were 37 kg of MDMA valued at ₹75 crore seized by Mangaluru East Police in 2024, about 4 kg of MDMA worth ₹4.47 crore seized by Mulki Police in 2025, besides substantial ganja consignments seized by Konaje and Moodbidri police.
