Thunderstorms and high winds on Colorado’s Front Range and Eastern Plains caused a ground delay at Denver International Airport on Saturday, stopping hundreds of flights from leaving on time. Federal Aviation Administration officials issued a ground delay for DIA as of 3 p.m. because of the storms, which is delaying departures by an average of 53 minutes. The ground delay is set to last until 7 p.m. There were 271 DIA flight delays as of 3:10 p.m. and one canceled flight, according to the flight tracking website FlightAware. United Airlines reported 88 delays, followed by Southwest Airlines with 86 delayed flights and SkyWest with 64 flight delays.
