Stockwell Street will be closed at its junction with Osborne Street northbound to the junction with Trongate from Monday, August 10 to Friday, February 5 2027. The whopping six month closure will accommodate part of the Stockwell Street Avenue project which will see the road's layout changed and its visual appeal boosted. Councillor Angus Millar, Convener for City Centre Recovery at Glasgow City Council, said: "The Stockwell Street Avenue will not only help to make this part of the city centre a more attractive place for all who live, work and visit there, but also improve the connections for people traveling in different ways to and from the city centre. "The investment in this Avenue mirrors the developments taking place and planned in this historic part of Glasgow. Diversions are available through Bridgegate, King Street and Trongate.
