Rounds of severe storms and flash flooding have returned to portions of the Midwest, Ohio Valley and the Northeast, bringing a threat of significant rain as well as swaths of destructive winds.
Damaging winds have begun to move into Illinois, triggering Tornado Warnings across some areas.
This has prompted a Level 3 out of 5 severe storm risk across the Midwest into the Ohio Valley, including Chicago , Indianapolis and Columbus, Ohio.
In addition to the severe wind threat, a prolonged heavy rain setup has already started driving a heightened flash flood risk.
When you combine days of cumulative rainfall with the steep, runoff-prone terrain of West Virginia, the flash flood threat is going to ramp up significantly.
