"Cllr Arif has failed to confirm that she reported her son, someone who has been convicted of terror offences, to PREVENT. When approached by the Bury Times for comment, Cllr Arif did not confirm whether she had reported her son to PREVENT and followed safeguarding guidance. The Bury Times asked Cllr Arif whether she intended to step down when first contacted about the allegations last week. A spokesperson said: "The matters raised concern a private individual and are not matters for Bury Council. No evidence has been presented that Cllr Arif committed any offence or had any involvement in her son's criminal activities.
