Since 1993 it had been known as a "strip pub", providing erotic entertainment in addition to the more traditional pub fare. Following the initial vague statement, the Watford Observer approached Three Rivers District Council for more information after finding out that a licencing application was refused earlier this year. A 2010 law change saw venues such as The Prince of Wales Rickmansworth require separate licences to those covered under the Licencing Act.
