Game 5 typically represents the first opportunity for Penn State freshmen to officially burn their 2025 redshirt by playing in a fifth game. Only two such first-year Nittany Lion is in line to do so Saturday: defensive end Chaz Coleman and cornerback Daryus Dixson. Coleman has played in all four games thus far and should be a consistent factor against UCLA on defense. However, Saturday’s game against the Bruins also happens to be Penn State’s first road game, thus giving us a look at which freshmen the coaching staff trusts enough to make the travel roster. It’s worth keeping eyes Saturday on Tatsch, Smith and Arrington at linebacker after starter Tony Rojas went down with a long-term injury.
