Colombia’s government has declared a national emergency after a deadly earthquake killed at least 82 people. Officials said people were still trapped under the rubble of collapsed buildings. The earthquake hit the west of the country, with a magnitude measuring 7.4, according to the US Geological Survey. The epicentre was just east of the village San José del Palmar, between the cities of Cali and Medellín. It was felt in the capital Bogotá as well as neighbouring Venezuela and Ecuador.
