New DelhiSouth Africa’s SA20 has transformed the matchday experience and successfully brought large crowds back to cricket stadiums, according to former South Africa fast bowler Chris Morris. Speaking ahead of the SA20 Season 5 Auction, Morris said the league had created strong local connections by giving supporters clear teams to follow. Morris said packed stadiums and the atmosphere around matches have helped SA20 attract people who may not traditionally follow cricket. While international cricket involving the Proteas remains the country’s biggest attraction, SA20 has encouraged new audiences to experience live cricket. Morris believes SA20 can continue growing because some of the world’s best players are keen to participate.
