'Facing financial ruin' - Owner fights holiday let restriction after 13 years

Eden Valley Barn Cottages has applied to Westmorland and Furness Council to discharge a Section 106 agreement restricting Rusby Barn, at Ousby, near Penrith, to holiday accommodation.
A previous attempt to remove the holiday accommodation restriction from Rusby Barn and neighbouring Cornrigg Cottage was refused by the former Eden District Council in May 2013.
The owner argues circumstances have changed significantly since then and says holiday letting is no longer economically viable.
She said: "This restriction is now unreasonable as holiday lets are now a redundant business model and it is an over saturated market.
She added: "I took this property on to NOT take away from local people and now I am facing financial ruin because of this decision.
