Bengaluru: Minister K J George on Wednesday said the KPCL delegation has taken all necessary steps to secure additional coal supplies and maximise thermal power generation to offset the decline in hydropower output caused by deficient rainfall.
The delegation secured commitments for enhanced coal supplies and additional railway rakes to ensure uninterrupted fuel availability for the state’s thermal power stations.
Cholan said discussions with Coal India Limited had also resulted in an assurance of one to two additional coal rakes a day for RTPS.
This requires up to 20 coal rakes a day, and arrangements have been made to procure the required quantity of coal,” he added.
The KPCL delegation also met Central Railway officials in Nagpur, who agreed to provide empty railway rakes to transport additional coal to Karnataka’s thermal power stations.
