'Deeply worrying' rise as 82 serious or fatal crashes hit Oldham

Oldham West, Chadderton and Royton MP Jim McMahon is demanding increased enforcement and road safety improvements across the borough in response to rising numbers of serious and fatal traffic collisions.
The MP claimed Oldham had recorded three fatal collisions and 82 fatal or serious crashes in 2025, out of 199 incidents overall.
In a post to social media, Mr McMahon said: "The number of serious or fatal collisions on Oldham roads continues to rise.
According to Mr McMahon's figures, the number of fatal crashes decreased in 2025, but crashes resulting in serious injuries had still risen.
The letter revealed that Oldham had seen the most deaths in crashes in Greater Manchester in 2024.
