Microsoft’s default Weather application for Windows 11 reportedly consumed more than 1.2 GB of memory while simply displaying a forecast. It therefore operates more like a website inside a desktop container than a compact native Windows utility. The 1.2 GB result should consequently be understood as an observed test result rather than a fixed requirement for every Windows 11 installation. The company officially requires at least 4 GB of RAM for Windows 11, while recent guidance describes 8 GB as suitable for everyday browsing, streaming, schoolwork, and productivity. Windows Latest compared the result with Apple’s native Weather application for macOS, which consumed 246.7 MB during its test.
