This comes shortly after Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said the government is ready for a debate in the Lok Sabha on the student protests as well as police action. Shah will reply to the debate, but the opposition should give an assurance that they will not run away from it and listen peacefully, he said. Both these demands have always been declared by the opposition as “non-negotiable”, Ramesh said. “They cannot now be delinked in a last-ditch effort by the Modi Government to break Opposition unity and solidarity. Such efforts will not succeed,” the Congress leader said.
