Amaravati: The High Court on Wednesday adjourned by three weeks the hearing on a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) challenging the state government’s decision to introduce the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model for Registration Service Centers (RSCs) through GO Ms No 396. A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Lisa Gill and Justice Challa Gunaranjan heard the petition before postponing further proceedings. Appearing for the petitioner, counsel argued that entrusting registration-related functions to private entities under the PPP model is legally untenable. The petitioner argued that the government should strengthen the existing registration mechanism instead of introducing private participation. The plea also raised concerns that privatisation of registration services could lead to corruption and irregularities, while exposing sensitive property records, personal information and biometric data to potential security risks.
