Hyderabad: Stating that the Water Board remains committed to providing permanent solutions to rainwater stagnation and sewage overflow across the city, Water Board Managing Director Ashok Reddy on Wednesday directed officials to intensify desilting operations, closely monitor flood-prone locations, and ensure immediate responses during heavy rainfall. Inspecting Krishnanagar and Punjagutta, the MD noted that a special drainage line laid in Krishnanagar had significantly reduced rainwater accumulation, bringing relief to residents as water now drains quickly. Reviewing Punjagutta, Ashok Reddy ordered staff to maintain vigil over rainwater hotspots, deploy de-watering pumps on a war footing, and clear drainage obstructions promptly. He further instructed officials across all levels to remain on field duty while coordinating closely with GHMC, HYDRAA, Police, and other departments to minimise public inconvenience. Additionally, the MD reviewed the completed 450-mm drainage main pipeline laid from opposite Agarwal Eye Hospital to Sitara Grand, executed to permanently resolve recurring sewage overflow issues in the Punjagutta area.
