Anna Dixon, MP for Shipley, has written to the Environment Agency (EA) following Yorkshire Water’s admission of responsibility for 260 pollution incidents in the last financial year—a 72 per cent increase from the previous year. Ms Dixon said: "I am writing to you today regarding Yorkshire Water's newly published 2025/26 annual results, which confirm the company was responsible for 260 pollution incidents in the last financial year. Yorkshire Water is expected to be downgraded from a two-star to a one-star rating in the EA’s Environmental Performance Assessment, which will be published in October 2026. The River Aire passes through Shipley, Saltaire, Baildon and Bingley, while the River Wharfe flows through Burley-in-Wharfedale, which is in the wider constituency. Ofwat has already fined Yorkshire Water £88.8 million for missed outcome delivery targets.
