Fruit Machine, Smile and Yendys hadn’t simply been selected on reputation. They had earned their places through the Australian selection series, the 1999 Telstra Cup — a series won by Fruit Machine. The Kenwood Cup had become one of international sailing’s great team competitions, but 2000 proved to be its final edition.
