The Guardia Civil has arrested three suspected members of an organised criminal gang accused of carrying out a violent armed robbery at a business in Cartagena. Investigators believed the speed, coordination and violence of the attack indicated that it had been carried out by an organised criminal group rather than opportunistic offenders. After obtaining judicial authorisation, the Guardia Civil mounted an extensive operation to search the property. The Guardia Civil said the investigation remains open, raising the possibility of further arrests or charges. The arrests have dismantled what investigators describe as an organised and potentially dangerous group that allegedly planned the Cartagena robbery in advance and used extreme violence to overpower its victim.
