Those in Boulder purple were all smiles following Saturday’s Pat Patten Invitational. Playing host to 12 other schools in one of the area’s longest-running annual cross country meets, the Boulder boys took first and the girls second at the hilly Viele Lake course near Fairview High School. On the boys’ side, senior Lucas Wik overcame some pre-race nerves to pace the Panthers with a third-place time of 15 minutes, 34.5 seconds. Vaughn leads Boulder girlsIn the girls race, Boulder sophomore Calia Vaughn, the younger sister of former Panthers standout Kiki Vaughn, placed third (18.19.4) to lead the local field. “I just wanted to race the race and not really worry about time,” King said.
