Cyclist Kaden Hopkins has confirmed he will undergo surgery after re-breaking his collarbone in a crash during the Tour Cycliste International de la Guadeloupe. Hopkins said the injury was to the same collarbone he fractured in February, adding that he will return to Spain for surgery next week. Despite the crash, Hopkins completed the individual time-trial on Friday [August 7] and finished second, two seconds behind Frenchman Alex Doltaire. “Heading back to Spain for surgery next week, then I’ll be back … season’s not over yet,” he said. Hopkins also thanked Bermuda’s team and his Atom6-Cycleur de Luxe-Auto Stroo team-mates and staff for their support during his time in Guadeloupe.
