U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Temporarily Closes Sites Near Wildfires

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Walla Walla District has temporarily closed several recreation areas and habitat management units near Little Goose Lock and Dam because of active wildfires in the region.
The temporary closures include:Texas Rapids Recreation Area and HMULittle Goose South Shore Recreation AreaLittle Goose Landing Recreation Area and HMUThe closures are a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of visitors and USACE staff.
Although some areas may appear safe, USACE is conducting safety inspections of the affected facilities and surrounding areas before reopening them to the public.
Officials anticipate lifting the closures later this week, pending the completion of the inspections and a determination that the areas are safe for public access.
