If Berlin residents could directly vote for their governing mayor, they would currently back the openly gay CDU candidate Stefan Evers, according to a survey reported by the Tagesspiegel, citing a poll conducted by the polling institute Civey. According to the poll, 20 percent of respondents would vote for Evers. Behind Evers in second place is AfD’s top candidate Kristin Brinker. Her result is lower than her party’s share in the last Civey poll, with the AfD at 18 percent then and Brinker at 15. Left party candidate Elif Eralp, whose party leads in many polls, manages only 11 percent and thus sits in fourth place.
