Hyderabad: The student agitation at Jantar Mantar taught many lessons to the general public and Gen Z in particular regarding the dictatorial attitude of the BJP government, which goes to extreme lengths when situations slip from its control, stated TPCC Secretary Mohd Saleem. He alleged that police in BJP-ruled states deal with citizens using an iron hand, even when dealing with students. Mohd Saleem claimed that during the recent incident in Delhi, police deployed AK-47s, pellets, nail-studded sticks, and electric shocks against protesters. He noted that similar harsh treatment was previously meted out to farmers from Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh agitating against three agricultural laws. Demanding booked status under anti-terror laws for officers involved, Mohd Saleem asserted that such police misconduct occurs predominantly in BJP-ruled states like Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Gujarat, and Uttarakhand, alongside central jurisdiction.
