Former BrewDog CEO James Watt eyes up brewery acquisitions for new beer start-up

Watt founded Second Best following his failed bid to buy the ailing BrewDog earlier this year.
According to a social media post by Watt, Second Best already has two beer recipes ready for production: a 6.7% ‘West Coast IPA’ and a 5.4% ‘Export Helles’.
The startup is also exploring the acquisition of three breweries to begin production and is actively in talks with potential “brewing partners”.

Watt stepped down as chief executive in 2024, with BrewDog posting losses of £59 million in his final year at the helm.
