How Is Henry Co. Commission Tie Vote To Be Decided?

By Shannon McFarlin News DirectorParis, Tenn.–A rarely-seen tie in the District 2 Henry County Commission race has people wondering what the procedure is to decide who the winner is.
Henry County Mayor Randy Geiger said, “As I understand it, after the election is certified at the next Election Commission meeting: The (County) Commission can choose to cast the deciding vote or the Commission can decide to have a runoff.”
The runoff would be conducted by the Election Commission and would cost some $6,000; or it could be held at the November general election at no cost.
The question will be on the Henry County Commission agenda for August 17.
Geiger said, “Hopefully the Commission will make a decision next Monday, or the new Commission will need to decide.”
