Thousands still wander into the QCWA cafe each year for a Devonshire Tea with freshly baked scones, a hearty sandwich and the warm country hospitality.
For more than 45 years, the QCWA’s tea rooms have been an Ekka institution, with volunteers once baking more than 10,000 scones on site during the show.
Today, around 300 volunteers help keep the cafe running across the Ekka, filling hundreds of four-hour shifts.
