DE PERE, Wis. (WFRV) – Community members gathered at Voyageur Park for a walk event to raise money for research and support those with Crohn’s Disease or ulcerative colitis. Community in Wisconsin mourning tragic death of star 16-year-old swimmer, remembered as a heroThe 2025 Take Steps Green Bay Walk, put on by The Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation, showed love and support for people in the community battling the inflammatory bowel diseases. According to the release, nearly 1 in 100 Americans has either Crohn’s or ulcerative colitis; two local individuals who battle these diseases every day were recognized at the event as Honored Heroes. 15-year-old Violet Beau of Green Bay was diagnosed with Crohn’s when she was eight, and 21-year-old Grace Nimmer, a nursing student from Green Bay, was diagnosed with severe ulcerative colitis after battling COVID and influenza-A.
