Prof. Shilpa Sharma, Department of Pediatric Surgery, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, was honoured with the Business Icon Award 2026 for Best Contribution in the Field of Pediatric Surgery by the Media Federation of India at a ceremony held at the Press Club of India, New Delhi, on 7 August 2026. The award recognizes her contribution not only to the advancement of pediatric surgery but also to public health education and community awareness. Through her academic, clinical, research, and outreach activities, Prof. Sharma has consistently emphasized the importance of translating medical knowledge into practical information that can benefit children, families, and the wider community. During the programme, Prof. Sharma conducted an engaging public-health awareness session addressing several issues of direct relevance to everyday life. Prof. Sharma emphasized the importance of wearing helmets, following road-safety regulations, preventing childhood injuries, and creating safer environments for children.
